Supervision in Early Childhood Care QQI Level 6 Online via Zoom
PLEASE NOTE:
QQI will be deactivating 6M2007 Early Childhood Care and Education Major Award in December 2023. The current Level 6 Major Award will be replaced with 6M21471 Advanced Certificate in Early Learning and Care.
We are busily working to create the new curriculum so we can offer it to you in the near future. If you already have 60 credits or more towards the current Major Award, you can complete the current Major Award, but you must have all modules completed and with QQI for certification by 12th December 2023.
Each module takes approx 40 – 150 hours to complete – depending on your previous knowledge and ability.
If you have less than 60 credits completed, you could start with the current modules that will be transferable to the new curriculum.

- You will learn to evaluate the key concepts, principles and practice in leadership, supervision and or line management within the ECCE setting,
- You will analyse the role and responsibilities of a supervisor in an ECCE setting and the key attributes and skills required to supervise including communication skills, time management, organisational skills and knowledge of current legislation and best practice,
- You will explore the role of the supervisor in an ECCE setting and how to implement best practice in establishing, maintaining and continuously improving standards and quality,
- You will devise processes to motivate and support team members in achieving agreed actions,
- You will learn to develop strategies for overcoming barriers and learn how to effectively supervise, recognising common challenges and problems when working with individuals and teams,
- You will learn how to identify possible resolutions,
- You will learn how to implement a range of organisational policies and procedures in an ECCE setting that ensures adherence to best practice and guidelines,
- You will learn how to utilise a range of supervisory skills to supervise staff,
- You will gain the skills to delegate and assign work and /or tasks to others, monitoring progress and evaluating results,
- You will gain experience supervising a team in an ECCE setting, having set out an agreed plan and /or actions regarding monitoring and evaluation of progress,
- You will learn to critically reflect on your own attributes and skills as a supervisor, scrutinising your time management, your communication skills, your organisational skills and whether you achieved the aims and objectives you set out to achieve,
- You will learn how to evaluate the learning and / or training needs of the team, implementing training plans in line with organisational objectives.

They also offer additional education and learning activities, assessment support, opportunities to submit drafts, and meetings before or after class to answer queries that cannot be covered in the session (by appointment).

Carear Path | This course leads to a Level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use their credits towards completing a higher level of study in the area of Childcare. Students who successfully complete this Major Award can also use the Certificate as the basis for entry into selected courses in Third Level Colleges and Universities. |
