Become aware of naturally occurring STEAM opportunities within early years education. This short online course is designed to support you build STEAM concepts in to your early years practice.

 

Overview

The course will share knowledge of the foundations of STEAM, including the history and beginnings of this innovative approach. The course also highlights the importance and value of introducing these concepts at an early age. Not only will the different areas of STEAM be explored in detail, but the theoretical underpinnings which emerge will be discussed and examined to demonstrate not only how STEAM education introduces new concepts, but how STEAM language and the role of the practitioner can support and expand on emerging concepts.

Why should I study this course?

The aim of the course is to provide early educator and people working with young children with an introduction to the concepts of STEAM. Raising the awareness of the importance of STEAM in early education, in helping to develop skills that provide a foundation on which a child’s cognition can be expanded on.

The module will also raise awareness of naturally occurring STEAM opportunities within early education, and teach practitioners, parents and others how to identify and expand on these opportunities on a daily basis and explore STEAM at an appropriate level to meet the needs of children in early education.

This is a CPD qualification, and is aimed at those who which to expand on and extend their knowledge to help them in their daily role.
